The North London Waste Authority (NLWA) commissioned a promotional film to showcase The Garden of Earthly Delights—a community-led project in Hackney that teaches residents how to transform reclaimed timber into unique furniture through hands-on carpentry workshops.
Aura Films took a documentary-style approach, capturing an authentic workshop in action to highlight the project’s community spirit and real-world impact. We interviewed the dedicated volunteers who guide the sessions, filming them in the garden itself to reflect the project’s natural, rustic charm and maintain a grounded, community-focused atmosphere.
Using natural light, smooth gimbal movements, and slow-motion shots, we brought attention to the intricate craft of woodworking with reused materials. This visual style helped convey the beauty of the process and the care behind each creation. A gentle, upbeat music track complemented the calm, welcoming environment of the workshops, reinforcing the project’s emphasis on wellbeing, sustainability, and skill-building.
The final film is a warm, engaging portrait of a community initiative that empowers local residents, promotes sustainable living, and turns waste into something truly meaningful.
